A showcase of South Indian music, film, and dance! Cleveland's Thyagaraja Festival is returning to the area from April 5–16, 2023 as guests of Cleveland State University. The Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival celebrates the artistry and culture of South India. Over the years, it has grown to be the largest Indian classical music festival outside of India. The event in Oberlin is part of the larger celebration in NE Ohio.

Schedule:

4:00 p.m. Performance - Nirmala Rajasekar, veena
A predecessor of the sitar, the veena used in Hindustani classical music is a stick zither.

7:00 p.m. Performance - Tiruvarur Vaidyanathan (percussion ensemble)

10:00 p.m. Performance - Kunnakudi Bala and group (percussion and violin)

12:00 a.m. Film - Kannathil Muthamital (2002)
