Oberlin Shansi Resumes In-Asia Grant Program

Oberlin Shansi is excited to announce the resumption of the In-Asia Grant Program, which was suspended in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Shansi’s In-Asia grants provide up to $1500 for current Oberlin students to complete an independent project on the ground in Asia. This program reflects Shansi’s mission of deepening connections between communities and institutions in Asia and the U.S. through mutual exchange.

In-Asia grants encourage students to pursue individual creative or academically-focused projects that work alongside various communities in Asia, while furthering the grantee’s artistic or intellectual goals. Past In-Asia Grantees have volunteered at Barefoot College in North India, studied Japanese Noh drama in Tokyo, and worked on organic farms in central Taiwan.

Current Obies are eligible to apply for funding for a project that takes place in summer 2023. The deadline for applying is Monday, March 27 at 11:59 pm EDT. Interested applicants can read more about the opportunity and past In Asia Grant project here and reach out to shansi@oberlin.edu with any questions.
