Announcing the 2023 Shansi Fellows

 
 

We are excited to announce the selection of eight new 2023 Shansi Fellows, who will be working with our partners in China, India, Indonesia, and Japan. This was an exceptionally competitive year for the Shansi Fellowship, and we are thrilled to welcome the newest members of the Shansi community.

Our new China Fellows are Dina Nouaime ’23, a double major in Politics and East Asian Studies, and Tiffany Yuen ’23, a Sociology and Environmental Studies double major. They will be based at our historic partner, Shanxi Agricultural University.

In India, Anokha Venugopal ‘23, an Environmental Studies major, will be joining the Keystone Foundation in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve in Tamil Nadu.

Our new Indonesia Fellows, Paris Mercurio ’23, a Creative Writing major, and Ariana Leandry ‘23, a Comparative American Studies major, will be based at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta and Syiah Kuala University in Banda Aceh, respectively.

In Japan, Zack Mayer-Bickel ‘21, an East Asian Studies and History double major, Leo Hidy ‘23, a Comparative American Studies major, and Risa Beddie ‘23, a double degree student who majored in Chemistry and Interdisciplinary Voice, will join the English Language Program’s teaching faculty at J.F. Oberlin University in Machida.
