Ted joined Shansi in August 2018. He oversees the Shansi Fellowship and In-Asia Grants programs and provides strategic support for the Visiting Scholars Program and alumni engagement. 

Ted has a Masters and Ph.D. in Anthropology from American University and an A.B. from Kenyon College in International Studies. He has nearly 10 years’ experience designing and running international education and professional exchange programs. Prior to joining Shansi, Ted served as the Resident Director of the South India Term Abroad, where he oversaw all aspects of the program, including student services, faculty management, and curriculum development. Previously, Ted also ran international educational programs in Asia and East Africa through Putney Student Travel, served as a Marketing Associate at the Corporate Executive Board, and worked in international development and human rights advocacy in India and Nepal. He also has an extensive background as a Tamil folk performance artist.

 Having earned three international fellowships (a Fulbright Research Fellowship, an Advocacy Project Peace Fellowship, and an AIF Clinton Fellowship), Ted gained extensive knowledge of academic and professional fellowship opportunities early in his career. Since, he has served as advisor, alumni mentor, evaluator, and keynote speaker for a range of international fellowship opportunities.
