Raga Revelry Film Screening & Panel Discussion
Raga Revelry Film Screening and Panel Discussion/Q+A Wednesday, April 24, 7-9:30 pm at the Birenbaum, Hotel at Oberlin Raga Revelry introduces viewers to the tradition of North Indian classical music. For thousands of years, musicians have dedicated their lives to raga, which evokes a vivid range of emotions and moods and invites the listener to go beyond a limited perspective of self-awareness. In Raga Revelry, performer and musicologist Vijay Kuchlu transports the viewer to the center of Indian spirituality and culture. Heartfelt performances and interviews from legendary musicians, along with the joyful camaraderie between the artists, unfold the rasa — or soul — of this music. Please join us for a screening of the film, followed by a Q+A panel discussion featuring filmmaker Shreedevi Thacer, Professors Jennifer Fraser and Emilia Bachrach and conservatory student Birsa Chatterjee on tabla.
