Daniel Tam-Claiborne '09 Awarded National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship

The Oberlin Shansi team is thrilled to share the amazing news that Shansi alum and current Trustee Daniel Tam-Claiborne '09 has been awarded a Creative Writing Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts. Daniel writes about Chinese in America and Americans in China, and I am sure his experience as a Shansi Fellow in Taigu, China from 2009-11 has contributed to his writing. Daniel's work could not be more timely during a time of rising anti-Asian hate in the United States and decaying relations between the US and China. These times remind us of the importance of cross-cultural experiences like Shansi Fellowships, and Daniel helps expand our horizons with his writing. If you want to learn more about this, check out the announcement about his award at https://www.arts.gov/.../creative.../daniel-tam-claiborne.... Congratulations, DTC!
