Fairytale is an original song that showcases the beauty of interfaith love, specifically between a Hindu and a Muslim individual. This song is mainly a personal narrative, but universal in a way. It celebrates the struggles between Islamophobia in strict Hindu societies that emerge from cultural and religious diversity. Through this project, my aim is to create a fusion pop and Indian Carnatic song that resonates deeply with the AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) community, focusing on love, understanding, and transcending boundaries. The composition will be a fusion of genres, with elements of pop and Indian Carnatic violin, a style that I have trained in for over 15 years. The relevance to the AAPI experience comes from cultural tensions and interfaith love in the diaspora. In many AAPI communities, especially those rooted in South Asian cultures, navigating interfaith relationships can be met with severe resistance and prejudice. Fairytale seeks to speak to the experience of younger generations who resonate with these complexities, offering a message of hope.
