Oberlin Shansi is a private, nonprofit organization on the campus of Oberlin College. Our goal, as it has been for over a century, is to promote understanding and communication between Oberlin and Asia, and this would not be possible without contributions from you and people like you. Thank you!

There are many ways to give to Oberlin Shansi. We are flexible, and grateful for any avenue you use to provide support, and would be honored to work with you to structure the type of planned gift that best fits your financial and philanthropic goals. Don’t hesitate to contact us.

Ways to Give

  • Online: Click below to donate securely online with a credit card or using your PayPal account. Shansi receives confirmation of incoming donations and we will issue you an acknowledgment letter.

  • Recurring Gifts: A recurring gift makes us happy. You can give a monthly amount (just like your cable bill, but much more satisfying), a quarterly amount (a gift for every season), or the tried and true annual contribution. Consider synching up an automatic recurring credit card contribution on PayPal. Do it once, and you’re done. Learn how to make a recurring gift via PayPal.
  • Matching Gifts: If you work for a company with a matching gift program, please consider increasing your impact and make a bigger, broader difference through this arrangement. Check in with you human resources department and alert them of your contribution! Please include the matching gift form they provide with your donation.
  • Gift of Stock: In addition to making a gift by check or credit card, you can also give a gift of stock. If you would like to make a gift of stock, please contact the Shansi office via telephone or email for account transfer information.

Designation of Gifts

Donations may be directed to the Annual Fund or one of several endowment funds.

The Oberlin Shansi Annual Fund is vital to ongoing programs and operations. Your donations to the Annual Fund allow us to support Shansi Fellows in Asia, Visiting Scholars at Oberlin, as well as new program initiatives.

Donations to Shansi’s endowment funds help secure our future. Donations can be directed to one of the following: The Carlson Fund (in memory of Ells and Bobbie Carlson); The Fellows Fund; The Jacobson / Cocco Fund (in honor of Carl Jacobson and Deb Cocco); and The Leonard Fund (in memory of Peg Leonard).

Please specify if you are giving a gift in honor or in memory of an individual and we will gladly acknowledge it.
