The Shansi Prize is awarded for meritorious student scholarship on topics relating to Asia.
To have a project entered for consideration it must be nominated by a member of the Oberlin College faculty or staff. The project can take the form of written work, class project, research project, music composition or performance. The Oberlin Committee of the Shansi board of trustees will consider all forms of a project, and students from all disciplines are eligible for this award. At its discretion, the committee may award one prize, more than one, or none. Prizes may vary, but will carry a maximum award of $500. It is a prize for completed work, and not a form of financial aid.
The Shansi Prize will be awarded annually, coinciding with the end of the academic year, and is ONLY for Seniors. We encourage faculty and staff to nominate students whose work they believe to be appropriate for this prize.
