Voices from the Epicenter: A Shansi Visiting Scholar Presentation

Voices from the Epicenter brings you the views of two Indonesian scholars from Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh, who have studied the aftermath of the December 2004 Indian Ocean 9.2 magnitude earthquake and tsunami which killed approximately 250,00 people across the region in 14 countries. It is estimated that more than 150,000 people perished in Aceh.

Their university is located in city of Banda Aceh, Indonesia, epicenter of the disaster.

Please join us for this thoughtful look at the recovery and resilience of the survivors.

Asrul Sidiq is a lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering at Syiah Kuala University.

Zaujatul Amna is a lecturer in the Faculties of Psychology & Medicine at Syiah Kuala University. They are the Oberlin Shansi Visiting Scholars for Spring 2018.
